LCPC, NCC, EAS-C, BC-TMH
I am a Clinical Professional Counselor operating in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County Maryland. In addition to my clinical license I am also certified to provide therapy through approved employee assistance programs. "What if I don't live or work in the areas you practice in?" No worries! My practice is primarily provided through distance counseling. We can connect through an encrypted video software for a full therapy session as I am also a Board Certified TeleMental Health (BC-TMH) provider. No matter the distance or circumstances, my goal is to ensure that I can connect with you.
My role is to create a safe place and ensure that you have the opportunity to truly express yourself. No more worrying about saying “the wrong thing” or “feeling the wrong way,” this is your space and time to discuss your hopes, dreams, fears, failures and accomplishments. With every session I will bring compassion, encouragement and a great sense of humor so that you feel empowered to make the changes you desire in life.
More About Me:
I graduated from Howard University (the Real HU) and studied community mental health counseling at Trinity Washington University. I have been in the mental health field for over 8 years and I have practiced in various settings: outpatient clinic, domestic violence shelter, in-home services and a few local hospital emergency rooms providing crisis services. I specialize in treating people with depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar diagnoses. I enjoy a good romantic novel, vacations at the beach, family time and chocolate…lots of chocolate.
It's ok to be tired...
How often have you had those moments of just being tired…tired of trying, tired of fighting, tired of talking about the same thing over and over again, tired of feeling like things won’t come together!
This is a feeling I too have been very familiar with. You are doing the best that you can with what you have and nothing seems to be working in your favor. More often than not you are calling on friends and family to talk things through but it’s not working.
With State of Mind Consulting & Therapeutic Services you have the opportunity to “let it all out.” You get the full attention you deserve and have been yearning for. I am committed to creating a space where:
You will be listened to and respected
There will be no judgement
No premature solutions to your problems, and
No unnecessary guilt of “complaining”
Once you become more comfortable in therapy, we can explore alternative ways of thinking, discover and foster your strengths and apply new tools to help empower you to be the best that you can be! We don’t have to spend countless hours on childhood experiences and past trauma; this therapy session will address the topics that are important to you! With therapy you are center stage and the spotlight is on you. In life we go through many things and therapy is a great opportunity to process your inner thoughts and feelings so that you can navigate the twists and turns of life.
