Client - Centered Therapy
You are the primary focus in this therapeutic approach. Through an established relationship, empathy and encouragement we work together to explore issues and I learn to understand things from your perspective.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
This approach works towards helping people regulate emotions and thoughts by learning about the triggers that lead to situations and which coping skills to apply to help avoid negative reactions.
I generally like to use an eclectic approach with therapy, meaning I use various techniques and approaches that makes sense to you and your situation. In therapy there is no "cookie cutter" approach to addressing your concerns. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you process some of life's stressors. When engaging in therapy, a lot of times you are able to "connect the dots" and gain a better understanding as to where some of your feelings stem from and why you respond to certain situations in a particular way. Once you discover that "Aha!" moment then we can figure out where to go from there.
